This page lists any significant actions or consultations that people might wish to engage with:
Stop the Silvertown Tunnel – if you live in London, please write to your local council, assembly members and MP calling on them to join the growing opposition to the tunnel. Stop the Silvertown Tunnel have drafted a letter which you can use and adapt to lobby the politicians with.
Stop the Red Route scheme in Flintshire (Wales) – please support this joint open letter to Ken Skates, the Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales, and to the First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, opposing the proposed highly damaging 6 mile dual carriageway which would destroy wildlife sites and an award winning organic farm.
e-bike Action – write to your MP! The government has pledged to ‘create a new era for cycling and walking’ but we need an incentive scheme for e-bikes to really make this happen (it is planning one for e-cars and similar schemes already exist in other countries). This is a national campaign started by Oxford Friends of the Earth, so please find a few spare moments to write to your MP today using their template letter. Please promote this through your networks and organisations. With your help this could become a reality. More info on their website.
Managing Pavement Parking: Government consultation on whether legislation on pavement parking should change. The consultation ends at midnight on 22 November, 2020
A417 Air Balloon roundabout / Missing Link: Highways England is consulting on its revised plans to damage the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Despite a tunnel option coming out with a better cost benefit ratio, it pressed ahead with the cheapest and most damaging option. The National Trust and Gloucester Wildlife Trust are opposed to the current plans. The consultation ends on 12 November, 2020. You can fill in their online survey or email your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. Let them know what you think!
A57 Link Roads Project: Highways England is consulting on this road just outside the Peak District National Park which would increase traffic and pollution. It would effectively be the start of a dual expressway by stealth across the Peak District National Park, connecting Manchester with Sheffield, trebling traffic in the process. The consultation ends at midnight on December 17th, 2020.
Please get in touch if you think there is a major consultation we should have listed here. Thanks.
